At Charlotte Douglas International Airport, “shuttle” can mean four different things: the CATS Sprinter public bus, a hotel courtesy van, the airport parking shuttle, or a reserved private car or group van. They do not go to the same place, they are not booked the same way, and luggage rules differ. Pick the arrangement that matches your destination, bags and schedule, then confirm operating times before you fly.

CATS Sprinter is a public bus, not a Mercedes van
Charlotte Area Transit System brands its airport-to-Uptown bus as CATS Sprinter. The city’s current page lists $2.50 per ride between Charlotte Douglas and the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC) in Center City. That fare is not a private-chauffeur rate and should not be compared as if it were the same product as a reserved Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van.
CATS lists Sprinter as the ride between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and the Charlotte Transportation Center. CATS places CTC at the corner of Brevard and East Trade Streets. The current weekday 5-Airport timetable names the airport boarding stop Airport Terminal, then Wilkinson & Ashley and Morehead & Grandin before CTC. Use the CATS Bus Routes and Schedules tool for inbound or outbound times on your travel day. The Sprinter page does not name a terminal door or curb zone, so follow that Airport Terminal stop rather than the parking-shuttle or ride-app meeting points.
In Uptown, Sprinter uses CTC. Spectrum Center’s directions page places the arena at 333 East Trade Street, directly across Trade Street from CTC. That Trade Street crossing is the last-mile walk to the arena. Hotel porte-cocheres and the convention center loading dock are separate destinations from CTC.
The current weekday Route 5 Sprinter timetable lists the first airport departure at 5:30 AM and the last at 12:55 AM the next calendar day. In the outbound direction from Charlotte Transportation Center toward the airport, the first departure is 5:30 AM and the last is 12:30 AM the next calendar day. Weekday intervals vary, including 20, 27, 30 and 60 minutes; service is not uniformly every 30 minutes or available 24 hours. CATS has announced Route 5 improvements beginning October 5, 2026, with service every 15 minutes on weekdays and 20 minutes on weekends; those improvements are not yet active.

Route 60 is a different CATS bus. CATS lists it as the Tyvola Road connection between the airport and the Blue Line at Tyvola Station. On the city page, last trips leave the airport at 11:45 PM on weekdays, 12:10 AM on Saturdays and 11:46 PM on Sundays. Confirm those airport-departure clocks on the Route 60 timetable for your travel day. If you need the convention campus or a named hotel door, CTC or Tyvola is a transfer point, not the lobby.
The LYNX Blue Line and Gold Line are useful once you are already on CATS. They are not a substitute for a reserved car to a specific porte-cochere. The convention center’s project architect describes an overstreet walkway toward the Westin Charlotte; confirm whether that pedestrian connection is open for your dates before you walk it with luggage. Airport parking shuttles stay on the airport
CLT’s parking buses connect parking facilities with the terminal. The airport says shuttle bus transportation is a free service between parking facilities and the terminal, generally every 10 to 15 minutes, with reduced operations between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. and during peak travel times. Boarding from the terminal is on the lower level (Arrivals / Baggage Claim) outer lanes. This is not a free ride to Uptown. Live wait times: CLT bus wait times.
Hotel courtesy vans depend on the hotel
CLT says courtesy vehicles are available for select hotels and motels, and that participating properties can be reached through Traveler Information Centers on the Arrivals / Baggage Claim level. Hours, stops and luggage rules belong to the hotel. Ask the front desk whether the van still runs for your arrival time, whether it serves your hotel, and where it loads. A courtesy van that ends at a suburban airport hotel will not replace a reserved car to Ballantyne, SouthPark or Lake Norman. Airport overview: Courtesy vehicles and ride-app pickup.
Reserved private transportation
Limousines, sedan and shuttle or van services at CLT are available only by pre-arrangement between the passenger and the provider, according to the airport. Ride-app pickup remains on the Departures / Ticketing level, upper inner lanes, Zones 1-3. Parking shuttles still serve parking facilities. On this site, a reserved car means a written quote, then a confirmation with the meeting location, vehicle description and chauffeur contact. Follow those assigned instructions. Hourly charter on this site is estimated at $120 / $150 / $230 / $240 per hour with a three-hour minimum. One-way airport transfers are quoted from your flight, destination entrance, vehicle and date. They do not inherit the hourly minimum. Taxi and app-ride alternatives
CLT taxis load on the Arrivals / Baggage Claim level outer curb in Zone 1. The airport posts a $32 flat rate to Uptown inside the I-277 loop, a $16 flat rate within a 3-mile radius of CLT, a $2.50 airport fee on all taxi trips, and a metered tariff beyond those flats. App-based rideshare pickup is on the Departures / Ticketing level, upper inner lanes, Zones 1-3. The price, vehicle and pin live in the app. Personal-vehicle pickup uses the cell phone lot, then an immediate curb stop; unattended cars can be towed. Luggage, groups and delayed flights
Count people and bags before you choose. CATS is public bus service; bring only what you can carry and stow without blocking the aisle, and check the current CATS riding rules. Parking shuttles are built for lot-to-terminal trips. Hotel courtesy vans vary by hotel. A reserved sedan plans for three passengers and three bags; SUVs plan for six and six; Sprinter vans plan for 12 people and 12 bags, subject to configuration. Larger groups need a coordinated quote. Compare arrangements by destination and bags rather than treating a public $2.50 fare as the same product as a private van.
If your flight is late, CATS and hotel vans still follow their last-trip times. On the city page, Route 60’s last airport trip is earlier than Sprinter’s overnight window. CLT parking shuttles still serve parking facilities, with reduced operations between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Put the airline and flight number on the reservation so dispatch can request flight tracking; wait terms are on the quote. Convention and hotel last-mile
CTC is a transit hub at Brevard and East Trade Streets, not a hotel entrance. Spectrum Center is across Trade Street from CTC. For the Charlotte Convention Center, continue to College Street or Brooklyn Village Avenue loading instructions; that campus is not the Sprinter stop. Brooklyn Village Avenue replaced Stonewall Street in June 2022. Nearby hotels include the Westin Charlotte, the Omni Charlotte and the Hilton Charlotte Center City. Confirm the door you will actually use, especially with luggage after a late arrival. CATS lists CTC hours as 4:50 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. daily; shops and customer-service windows are shorter.
